This can be a tricky location to find on Lake Burley Griffin, however if you travel along Lady Denman Drive it’s past the Zoo heading towards the city, if you go past the Black Mountain peninsular park you have gone to far and need to turn around.  (also keep an eye out for race walkers close by).

Club News

Last weekend Robin Whyte competed in the Coburg 24 hour carnival. Robin completed the 100km!  and was also successful at 50 mile and 12 hour age records.  Well done Robin.

Laura Burns competed last weekend at  the Australian Little Athletic Championships in Sydney, unfortunately Laura was DQ (along with several other athletes), but will be back ready to go for the LBG in June and the Australian Road Walking Champs in August.

Brendon Reading traveled to China over the Easter period and competed at the IAAF Race Walking challenge.   Brendon completed the 20km in a time of 1.32.53, in what Brendon tells me were very hot humid conditions.  Great work Brendon.

A big thank you to everyone at the club who took the time to complete the petition for the 50km walk to remain in place at the Olympics. The 50km walk will remain on the program for the 2020 Olympics.

The Australian Road Walking Champs will be held in Wollongong this year, for all those who are interested in attending.

LBG information is up on the clubs website, with an email to follow next week.

See you all on Saturday.

Phillipa
